New Upholsterer Peter Brings Showbiz Credentials
Meet Peter Northrop, who joins Wilcare in our growing Product Development Department as a Development Upholsterer.
Peter calls on 20 years experience in the furniture industry, starting his career with Boston Designs, which coincidentally became part of Wilcare in 2008.
His career, working with a number of leading companies, has seen Peter involved in all aspects of the trade, including eight years making bespoke sofas and leather beds as well as specialist antique furniture restoration.
Along the way, Peter, who hails from Llantwit Major, has seen his bespoke furniture appear in films and TV.
One of his most stunning pieces was a 10-foot wide recreation of surrealist artist, Salvador Dali’s famous Mae West Lips Sofa, which Peter built for a glamourous S4C TV show.
A more restrained example of Peter’s upholstery, a classically styled Chesterfield sofa, is also set to appear in an as yet unannounced Netflix production which was in production last year in Cardiff.
Martyn Crocker, Wilcare Group Director of Production said: “Peter is a great new addition to our team bringing a wealth of experience in fine upholstery to us, which is a hallmark of the Wilcare way.
His creativity, combined with sheer craftsmanship, are key attributes for our development work, in prototyping new products and refining and development existing product ranges. We welcome Peter to the Wilcare family.”
In his new role, Peter is part of Martyn Crocker’s team, working alongside Ellie Dix, our Assistant Product Development and Prototype Designer.
